Sustainable Garden and Landscape Design

Outdoor Spaces That Increase Your Property Value and Enhance Your Quality of Life

Serving York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

You dream of an outdoor oasis for your family to gather in, grow with, and create memories to last a lifetime…

Because you know spending time outside isn’t just a hobby—it’s a necessity.

The fresh air. The sunshine on your skin. The smell of flowers in full bloom. These sensory delights have a natural ability to improve our immune system, uplift our spirits, and strengthen our relationships with ourselves and our loved ones.

And as modern life increasingly shifts indoors, creating a reason to step out into the garden is more important than ever. But it’s not enough to simply enjoy the benefits of what Mother Nature has to offer either.

It’s about giving back to the earth and creating a harmonious relationship with the natural world…

Welcome to Pathways to Perennials

We are a second-generation family business rooted in sustainability and family values.

Pathways to Perennials was founded in 1980 by our parents, Lorraine and Armand Mennen, who both come from a lineage of European gardeners. From Mom’s love for English perennial gardening passed down from Grandad to Dad’s experience growing fruits, vegetables and edibles for their Dutch family, our gardening heritage weaves together a rich tapestry of passion and practicality.

Since then, we’ve transformed countless outdoor spaces into inspiring environments that are both beautiful and eco-friendly.

No matter the size or shape you have to work with, we take pride in every project we take on—from design to installation.

We can’t wait to get to know you and bring your garden dreams to life.

Meet The Team

Meet Angie

Garden designer, plant lover, and co-owner of Pathways to Perennials.

Although I graduated from Laurier University with an Honours Business Degree, I’m a firm believer that experience is the best form of education and Mother Nature is the world’s greatest teacher. Growing up, you could almost always find me in the garden with my mom learning everything I could about flowers, plants, and insects. If I wasn’t in the garden, I was curled up under the apple tree napping in the breeze. Nature was (and still is) home.

These early experiences shaped my love for the natural world and influenced my decision to continue my parent’s legacy by taking over the family business with my brother, Nick. I can’t imagine a better way to spend my days than under the sun with my hands in the dirt.

Now, I have a family of my own and I’m intentional about providing my children with the same nature-inspired lifestyle that I grew up with. This is what fuels my passion for creating outdoor spaces where both people and the planet can thrive. Because there’s nothing more rewarding than helping our clients reawaken their wonder of the natural world.

Meet Nick

Co-owner and Senior Landscape Designer

I’ve been landscaping for a long time, but my enthusiasm for the craft remains as strong as ever. The sense of accomplishment that comes after a day’s work is something I never grow tired of. Our team efforts go a long way, but it’s safe to say Mother Nature gets most of the credit.

Like my sister, Angie, I grew up outdoors and learned so much of what I know directly from the environment. I have vivid memories of building rock walls in my forts and pathways in the sandbox growing up. My first summer working full-time with my parents at the age of 12 still feels like it was only yesterday. When the time came, I attended Humber College and graduated from the Horticulture program.

Taking over the family business with Angie was an obvious decision for me. Seeing the daily progress and final transformation that takes place with every landscape project we take on never fails to provide a feeling of gratification. I truly can’t imagine doing anything else with my life.
